Pumpkin Harvesting

The kindergarten went on a fieldtrip to Lacie’s Pumpkin Patch on Friday. I discovered that hay and I don’t get along very well. I think the hay made me sick. I started getting a sore throat. I also had a small fever and felt disoriented, so I’m not sure if it was hay-related or if I’m just getting sick. Hopefully it was the hay, because I have to teach everything for the next 2 weeks. 1 down and 2 to go… Well, at least for a little while.

Peter is working crazy hours lately, which makes me sad. I hope I get to talk to him. Tonight he’s working 7pm-7am, and if you know anything about Peter, you’d know that he goes to bed at a ridiculously early time every night. So that stinks.

Funny story: I sent Dave’s poem to my poetry professor, because I really liked it and thought he might enjoy reading it, too. So he emails me back at 11pm and is all frantic, saying, “Lauren.. is this really you? I know that people’s emails have been getting hacked into lately. Maybe that’s what happened here. I hear it’s common nowadays. Please, call my office and let me know if this is really you. I don’t want to respond unless I know for sure that it’s you.” Just FYI, Dave’s poem was about “sexual relations,” but I give the poem 5 stars. So I call the teacher and leave a message on the machine. I also emailed him to let him know that just because I am a straight A student, am involved in everything, and am relatively quiet in class, doesn’t mean I’m not allowed to have a sense of humor. I mean, I’m definitely not a sorority girl who sleeps around, gets drunks, comes to class late, etc. I’m a nerd… so I can understand and appreciate that my professor was concerned. I just thought it was funny. I mean, my Spanish nickname was Pervertida for a reason.

Mad props–to be ghetto for a minute–to Brian for fixing my car battery at Advance Auto Parts today. I didn’t have any cash on me to give him a tip, but donuts are the next best thing. I gave him 2.

In other news, I straightened up my bedroom–FINALLY. It’s so much nicer now. It still needs some work, but it’ll do for now.
