    Effect

This post is for all of the crushes, friends, boyfriends, family members, strangers, teachers, classmates, roommates, fraternity brothers, bosses, coworkers, etc. that I’ve had in my life and for all of those that I will have.

It’s hard to imagine that you have an impact on someone’s life. Especially when you may rarely speak with them or haven’t maybe haven’t spoken to them in years. Sometimes the effect that you have isn’t obvious… but it’s those times that you’re never quite sure of what happened that stick in your mind. And then you wonder if those people ever really cared, if they ever care (presently), if think about you, if they reminisce, if they compare you to people they’ve met or people they’ll meet, if they despise anything that reminds them of you, if they shudder at the mention of your name, if they regret you, if they give you a thought at all…

I know it’s silly to think about all of this, but…
I’ll never truly know the impact that I have upon the people that I have met in my lifetime.

*Note: I tried to find a picture to post with this entry, but nothing could capture what I felt while writing this. It’s not necessarily meant to be a sad post… just a look back.

I’d just like to say that I’m very proud of my video.

This is the car that I want. It’s nothing fancy, but it’s small and perfect for me! I know that when I graduate, I’ll have loans to pay and a job to hunt for.. but I’m hoping that I’ll be able to get a new car sometime soon. Nothing too expensive… I’m not that picky. I’ve been looking at similar cars, such as Suzuki Aerio, Toyota Echo, Chevy Aveo, etc. I just want something that I feel comfortable driving. Plus, if I’m gonna pay all that money for a car, I want the luxury edition (basically automatic, power locks and doors, preferably keyless entry, and some place for my iPod).

    Pumpkin Harvesting

The kindergarten went on a fieldtrip to Lacie’s Pumpkin Patch on Friday. I discovered that hay and I don’t get along very well. I think the hay made me sick. I started getting a sore throat. I also had a small fever and felt disoriented, so I’m not sure if it was hay-related or if I’m just getting sick. Hopefully it was the hay, because I have to teach everything for the next 2 weeks. 1 down and 2 to go… Well, at least for a little while.

Peter is working crazy hours lately, which makes me sad. I hope I get to talk to him. Tonight he’s working 7pm-7am, and if you know anything about Peter, you’d know that he goes to bed at a ridiculously early time every night. So that stinks.

Funny story: I sent Dave’s poem to my poetry professor, because I really liked it and thought he might enjoy reading it, too. So he emails me back at 11pm and is all frantic, saying, “Lauren.. is this really you? I know that people’s emails have been getting hacked into lately. Maybe that’s what happened here. I hear it’s common nowadays. Please, call my office and let me know if this is really you. I don’t want to respond unless I know for sure that it’s you.” Just FYI, Dave’s poem was about “sexual relations,” but I give the poem 5 stars. So I call the teacher and leave a message on the machine. I also emailed him to let him know that just because I am a straight A student, am involved in everything, and am relatively quiet in class, doesn’t mean I’m not allowed to have a sense of humor. I mean, I’m definitely not a sorority girl who sleeps around, gets drunks, comes to class late, etc. I’m a nerd… so I can understand and appreciate that my professor was concerned. I just thought it was funny. I mean, my Spanish nickname was Pervertida for a reason.

Mad props–to be ghetto for a minute–to Brian for fixing my car battery at Advance Auto Parts today. I didn’t have any cash on me to give him a tip, but donuts are the next best thing. I gave him 2.

In other news, I straightened up my bedroom–FINALLY. It’s so much nicer now. It still needs some work, but it’ll do for now.
