March 2014 Ipsy Bag

gb_bag-mar2014This month, the Ipsy bag is actually really cute. I don’t really care for the design, but for some reason the crazy colors and laminated fabric won me over. It might be the mom in me, but I am thinking of using this bag for snacks in the diaper bag. Or not. I have to think of something to do with all of these cute Ipsy bags though!

So the Flawless Beauty Primer by Pixi Beauty is a great product. It covers really well and gives you this nice shine that makes it look like you have a tan…without actually having a tan. You know, the tan effect. It seems to bring a little light and shimmer to your face and brighten you up. Thanks, Ipsy!

The OPI nailpolish is a textured “Roughfles,” (like “ruffles”) polish in color “On What Grounds.” It is almost a Robin’s egg blue color, slightly speckled, and rough/bumpy in texture. It almost feels like a light sandpaper after it dries. It’s kind of a neat feel, but I think I would add some top coat to make it a little smoother. With the texture as is, I want to run my fingers over my nails all day, which makes the nail polish chip faster. Cute polish though!

I love this miniature lipstick sample from Marvelous Moxie! The color is called “Get Ready,” and it is slightly darker or bolder than I would typically wear, but it is just within the boundaries enough that I think I might use it a bit! Plus it’s a super cute size… Normally I would be say, “Aw, man. A sample size, not a full-sized product,” but this seems to be a perfect size if Ipsy is going to send bolder colors that people might stray away from normally.

100mi-hshpduew5pgp1bplI love this Bora Bora pallette by Be a Bombshell because it kind of pushes me to try a bold color. Of course, the neutrals I am going to wear because…everything I buy is practical. I like that I have this little turquoise pop that is making me consider how I could use such a bright color without looking like Lady Gaga. So far, it’s really pretty as an eyeliner. The last time Ipsy sent me blue eyeshadow, I hated it, but this color is much more modern and trendy.

Even though there are only 4 products this month, I really like all of them. I would say four out of five stars.

July 2013 Ipsy Bag

Heather got me a 3-month Birchbox subscription for my birthday last year, and it was so fun! Each month, I got a cute little box filled with 5-6 sample-sized make-up or hair products. Then I saw another fun company that was the same price, and I decided to sign up for them once my Birchbox subscription ran out.

Ipsy is $10 a month (same as BB), and you get 4-6 make-up products that range from a trial size to a full product…and they come in a cute little zipper pouch each month.

I always find it fun to read about other people’s Ipsy or Birchbox monthly treats. So I figured I would write about my monthly bag and maybe find a friend or two who gets excited about it the way I do.

The July 2013 Ipsy Glam Bag – Beach Beauty

july13-8

Overall, I thought Ipsy was so much fun this month. The little pink bag that everything came in is also a bright pink. It reminds me of a pencil case that I would’ve had in first grade or something :). I’m not sure what I’ll do with the bag, but I will think of something! I borrowed the glam bag picture from this person’s blog. So make sure you check our her review :).

This month there were 5 items that I received in my bag. I believe two were full-sized items, and the rest were samples…but pretty good-sized ones!

Nailtini nail polish in Mai Tai

The nail polish was pretty nice and was full-sized, so yay! Mai Tai is a bright, vibrant color that seemed to last longer than I expected. I usually have chips that start a day after painting my nails, but this didn’t just as easily as I suspected. Not exactly my favorite color in the world, but it is definitely a fun summer color that got a lot of attention.

California Collection Eyeshadow Sample

This eyeshadow was probably my favorite part of the bag this month. It’s a sample size, but I think it is perfectly fun! I would say this is comparable to a Revlon eyeshadow quartet or something. The purple isn’t as pigmented as it appears, so it goes on nice and light with a hint of purple. If worn with primer and caked on, I bet you could amp up the intensity though. My favorite colors were the gold and yellow. Just a fun set of eye-opening colors!

In order for me to consider wearing a lipstick color, I generally like it to be neutral or a light, natural pink color. This color is anything but. The packaging is super cute, and it seems to be a full-sized product, but I find it to be super neon pink. It’s one of those bubble-gum-pink, everyone-will-notice-you colors. Not my style, but it does make me feel sassy if I wear it around the house. 😛

Soy Renewal Beach Spray Conditioning & Texturizing Spray

Let me just say that sometimes I really wish I had curly or wavy hair, so I could use cool products like this! For me and my stick-straight mane, this spray just made me smell nice. I passed it onto a wavy-haired coworker who LOVES it and says she likes the “beachy” smell. Even though it was a sample size, it is perfect for your pocketbook or on-the-go.

This moisturizer came in a sample size, but it is nice and light. Plus, it’s organic, so points for that! My color that I received was “rose,” and it’s a very nice, light tint. I plan on sticking this in my purse and using it when I’m in the sun and feel like I need a little cover-up.
